Our Approach to Learning

As we research and study ways to adapt the Reggio Emilia approach to learning to the context of American culture and specifically to the diverse cultures within our local community, our own school identity and culture continues to grow and evolve.

Professional Development is an inherent part of this process.  Meetings and workshops with teachers, administrative staff, consultants, and families, visits to other educational contest for ideas and inspiration, and attending initiatives to establish and maintain dialogue with other educators are on-going.

Presenting at conferences allows us to share our work and collaborate with other colleagues to further our vision.  We also publish articles, and open our school to those who are interested in learning more about our methodologies, pedagogies and practices.

Collaborations

The Clifton School welcomes institutions of higher learning for collaborations in observation and research with a focus on early childhood learning and development.

We serve as a model site for training for students and educators who are interested in studying The Clifton School's unique approach to school culture, community, curriculum, child development, and child-led learning experiences.

Professional development collaborations on our work at The Clifton school include internships, seminars, workshops and conferences on the local, regional, national and international level.  Our educators are often invited to speak and lead events.

We also attend and support conferences at home and abroad to further our own knowledge and to keep abreast of new developments in this field.
